Archie's family and friends throw a surprise party for his 50th birthday, but Archie insists that he's only 49, and is upset to find out he's older than he thinks.
Mhe family is planning a 50th birthday party for Archie. The only one unwilling to enter into the festivities is Archie himself, who feels that he is old and useless. Then he takes a peek at his birth certificate -- and is he in for a surprise. The episode's level of humor is heightened by the attitude contrast between Archie and the octogenarian couple Quigley and Jo Nelson.
Note: Isabel Sanford (as Louise Jefferson), Mike Evans (as Lionel), Betty Garrett (as Irene Lorenzo), (Bob Hastings as Tommy Kelsey) all appear in the episode. Ruth McDevitt and Burt Mustin reprise their guest roles as Josephine 'Jo' Nelson and Justin Quigley respectively.
