Archie and the Miracle was the 11th episode of the fifth season and the 96th overall episode of All in the Family. The Season 5 episode first aired on CBS-TV on November 23, 1974. Written by Lloyd Turner and Gordon Mitchell, it was directed by H. Wesley Kenney.
When Archie is nearly killed in an accident at the loading dock, he regards it is a miracle, and decides to repay God by doing "the Lord's work"...until the Lord's work conflicts with his Sunday football game.
Never much of a churchgoer, Archie finally "sees the light" after a near-death experience at his job. Suddenly, there is no one more fervently religious than Archie -- and no bigger pain in the neck. Archie narrowly escapes a potentially deadly accident at the dock, prompting him to see the light. But can he deal with the demands of Christianity, especially after he is asked to drive a church bus on the same day he was looking forward to going to a New York Jets game?
