Edith's Accident is the seventh episode aired during the second season and the 20th overall episode of All In The Family. The episode first aired on CBS-TV on November 6, 1971. The script was co-written by the team of Michael and Bernie West, who would later, along with Don Nicholl, would co-write episode and serve as producers for its spinoff The Jeffersons, as well as the ABC-TV sitcom Three's Company. The episode was directed by John Rich.
Due to an accident in a grocery store parking lot, a can of cling peaches in heavy syrup from Edith's shopping basket slightly damages someone's car.
Accidentally denting the fender of a parked car with a can of peaches, Edith leaves a note on the car's windshield. A furious Archie reprimands Edith for her unrepentant act of honesty, but that's hardly the end of the story -- which includes such elements as insurance fraud and an "unfrocked" priest.
