The highly successful, Ivy League college-educated businessman that he is, Hugh, who was supposed to deliver a speech for Larchmont Rotary Club, which he is chairman of, is a self-made man, having lifted himself up from out of the slums of Newark which he was born and raised to a nice mansion in nearby Larchmont, NY. A World War II Army veteran like Archie, Hugh, who was an intelligence officer in the Army Intelligence Service then, is rather glad that Archie, who thought he was something like an Army cook, and him "would have never seen each other"!
Archie, being the bigoted type that he is, mistakenly thinks out of ignorance that Hugh lives in Harlem until Hugh reveals his profession and where he actually resides.
