When Archie gets stuck in an elevator with a wealthy stock investor named Hugh Victor Thompson III (Roscoe Lee Browne), Hector, a neurotic secretary named Angelique McCarthy and his pregnant wife Sarafina (Edith Diaz). After noticing a Spanish couple, Carlos and Sarafina conversing in Spanish, a nervous Archie complains, "Somebody tell that couple to put a lid on the Spanish!" When he tries to call out on the elevator phone, Carlos, who is the building custodian, approaches him; a hurried Archie, in his bigoted manner, says "Could somebody explain to this Spic?" Carlos answers, "It's not necessary...this "Spic" speaks English!"
