Synopsis[]

Gloria feels left out when Stuart, one of Mike's friends from college visits. Mike wants to do something "intellectual", but Stuart feels uncomfortable that they've excluded Gloria.

Episode summary[]

Mike's college buddy, Stuart Henderson, comes over to spend the evening playing chess with him. In the middle of the game, the two delve into intellectual conversations while Gloria listens in and gives common viewpoints. Mike keeps sending her into the kitchen to get her things until eventually she gets the feeling that he doesn't want her around. Eventually, she and Mike end up in an argument because she believes that the more educated he gets, the less he will find that he needs her. Stewart helps Mike to understand how he has offended her and they make up.
