Pendergast Tool & Die

The Pendergast Tool & Die Company was the name of the company for which Archie Bunker had worked from about 1948 or 1949, which one of his uncles helped to get him employed at. By the time set of the beginning of All In The Family, which is about mid/late 1970 (the show premiered in January 1971) Archie is a foreman, then later promoted to dispatcher, from which Hank Pivnik (Danny Dayton), who also worked at the Tool and Die distribution plant, would assume his suddenly vacant job as dock foreman.
