The Bunkers and Inflation (Part 1) is the season opening episode of the fifth season and the 86th overall episode of All in the Family. Archie's union calls a strike, leaving the family to begin adjusting to not having a steady income.

Plot summary

Season four of All in the Family gets under way with the news that Archie's union is going on strike. The action could not happen at a worse time; the Bunkers' bank account is at an all-time low and the cost of living is at an all-time high.

Note: Betty Garrett appears in this episode as Irene Lorenzo. Isabel Sanford (as Louise Jefferson), Sherman Hemsley (as George Jefferson), Mike Evans (as Lionel Jefferson), and Billy Halop (as Bert Munson) all also appear.
